About

James Keogh

Founder & Lead Analyst, SoccerTips.com

I started SoccerTips.com with a simple frustration: the football betting pages I could find were either recycled previews with a scoreline and a shrug, or hype machines promising "locks" that lose as often as they win. Neither was actually useful to someone who wants to bet with a clear head.

The answer was boring on purpose: build every piece of analysis on top of a named, verifiable data source. Before any fixture preview, tip breakdown or trend piece goes live, a data pack is pulled for that game — team trends, player hit-rate windows, corners, cards, xG, head-to-head and odds context. The numbers go in first. The narrative has to earn its way in after.

I've spent my career around football data — the match-level and player-level numbers that sit behind what you see on screen — and this site is where that work becomes public: predictions framed as probability, variance treated as a real opponent, and bankroll discipline treated as the only edge a bettor fully controls.

One thing I will never do is promise you a sure thing. Because there isn't one. What I can promise is that every angle on this site traces back to a data pack you can check — and that if the data is thin, I'll tell you it's thin.

How I work

Three steps, every fixture

01

Start with the pack

Every fixture gets a data pack before a word is written: team trends, player hit-rate windows, cards, corners, xG and odds context. If it isn't in the pack, it doesn't make the article.

02

Frame the probability

The data gives a lean, not a lock. I write likelihood in honest terms — including the variance that can sink any single match — and I flag when the evidence is thin.

03

Stake like it's a marathon

Bankroll management is the only edge a bettor fully controls. Every piece carries staking and risk notes, because surviving variance matters more than any one pick.

What the site stands on

Values, in writing

Probability over hype

No 'sure things', no 'bankers', no can't-miss angles. If a market looks attractive, we say why the numbers support a lean — and what could break it.

Variance is real

A season average is a 38-game story, not a one-match promise. Openers, new signings and rotation make single games noisy; we write like it.

Responsible gambling, always

18+ only. Set limits, never chase losses, never bet what you can't afford. BeGambleAware, GamCare and GAMSTOP are one link away on every page.

Every number traceable

Every stat we cite traces to the SoccerTips data pack, and we link the authoritative tables behind the numbers. You should always be able to check our work.
