MLS Predictions This Weekend: Saturday Tips Roundup (15 Aug)

All nine Saturday games · 19:30–22:30 ET · player-level shot lines

RoundupMLS21+ · Play responsibly

Nine MLS games on Saturday 15 August, and the weekend's data story is shot volume. Orlando City–FC Cincinnati pits the two leakiest defences in the slate (18.1 and 16.3 shots allowed per game), Charlotte–Columbus offers the cleanest defensive split, and player-level shot lines thread through every fixture. All prices below were re-verified against current markets on 15 Aug and can still move before kickoff; every tip is player-level because the data pack carries no MLS match-result prices and we don't pretend otherwise. No such thing as a sure thing — 21+, bet responsibly. Some bookmaker links below are affiliate links — we may earn a commission at no cost to you. More match previews → MLS hub →

Odds updated 15 Aug — prices below re-verified after publish; raised lines are reflected

Orlando City vs FC Cincinnati (19:30 ET) — the volume game

Kickoff 19:30 ET at Inter&Co Stadium. The tip: Evander over 3.5 shots @ 1.83. Evidence: Evander averages 3.70 shots per game across his last 20 with 6(3), 7(2)⚽ and 5(3) games in the window — and Orlando allow 18.1 shots per game, 39.2% above league average, the highest allowance in the whole slate. Home counter: Griezmann (2.83/game) over 3.5 @ 1.73. Risk: Orlando's recent games are chaos (7-5, 3-2, 1-2) — this is a volume play, not an outcome play, and variance runs both ways. Charlotte FC vs Columbus Crew (19:30 ET) — the defensive-split game

Kickoff 19:30 ET at Bank of America Stadium. The tip: Méndez over 2.5 shots @ 2.00 (Columbus). Evidence: the split is the story — Columbus allow 10.1 shots per game (−22.4%), Charlotte 14.1 (+8.8%) — so Charlotte's attackers (Biel, 2.35/game, over 2.5 @ 1.91) face the slate's strongest suppression while Columbus attackers meet the softer side. Méndez averages 2.00 shots at 69 minutes; Gazdag over 2.5 @ 2.40 is the longer swing. Risk: Columbus are unbeaten in five but away from home, and Charlotte won two of their last three at home; referee Dujic (4.60 cards/game) is context only.

Atlanta United vs Red Bull New York (19:30 ET) — form-contrast

Kickoff 19:30 ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The tip: Julian Hall over 2.5 shots @ 1.73 (NYRB). Evidence: Atlanta are on 1 point from their last five (L L D L L); Hall averages 2.05 shots with ⚽×3 (6(4)) and ⚽×2 (4(3)) games in the window, against an Atlanta defence the pack rates as roughly average on shot volume. Risk: Atlanta's own player prices were unverified at capture (odds chips missing) — we cite NYRB prices only, and a single bookmaker posted this side of the market. A home crowd could also flip Atlanta's form.

CF Montréal vs DC United (19:30 ET)

Kickoff 19:30 ET at Stade Saputo. The tip: Munteanu over 3.5 shots @ 2.38 (DC). Evidence: Munteanu averages 3.00 shots per game with ⚽×2 6(3) and 5(3) games in the window — the line has been raised from 2.5 to 3.5 since publish (15 Aug), a tougher ask at a longer price; the volume case stands, the edge is thinner. Risk: DC are draw specialists (D D D W D — seven draws in their last ten combined) and Montréal are winless in five; referee Mendoza (4.95 cards/game, second-highest in the slate) is context only.

Toronto FC vs New England Revolution (19:30 ET)

Kickoff 19:30 ET at BMO Field. The tip: Carles Gil over 2.5 shots @ 2.40 (New England). Evidence: Gil averages 1.83 shots but has three big-volume games in the window (5(2), 4(1), 5(3)) at 90 minutes; his line is long because Toronto's defence allows 6.2% fewer shots than average — the counter case is already priced in. Risk: a low-trust game — both sides are in poor form (Toronto L D D L D, New England L D W D L) and New England face rotation after midweek.

Houston Dynamo vs LA Galaxy (20:30 ET)

Kickoff 20:30 ET at Shell Energy Stadium. The tip: Guilherme over 3.5 shots @ 2.10 (Houston). Evidence: Guilherme averages 2.89 shots/game with 5(3)⚽ and 6(4)⚽ games in the window, and Houston are unbeaten in five while the Galaxy are winless in five (D L L D D). Risk: the Galaxy's Gabriel Pec (4.33 shots/game) has no posted line — a data gap we can't price around — and Galaxy underperformance can snap at any time; prices are tight across this game.

Colorado Rapids vs Sporting KC (21:30 ET)

Kickoff 21:30 ET at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The tip: Paxten Aaronson over 3.5 shots @ 1.91 (Colorado). Evidence: KC allow 22.9% more shots than average (15.9 per game) — the slate's strongest “easier” signal — and Aaronson (1.58/game, 84') has a 6(3)⚽ game in the window. All three Colorado lines were raised a tier since publish (15 Aug): Aaronson over 3.5 @ 1.91, Sealy over 3.5 @ 2.20, Navarro over 4.5 @ 2.38 — harder asks at longer prices, so the KC shot-allowance case stands but the edges are thinner. Risk: KC beat Colorado 2-1 in the window despite the bad underlying numbers, and Colorado's recent games have been high-variance (7-6, 3-1).

Real Salt Lake vs Minnesota United (21:30 ET)

Kickoff 21:30 ET at America First Field. The tip: Gozo over 3.5 shots @ 2.20 (RSL). Evidence: Gozo averages 3.31 shots per game with 7(5)⚽ and 6(3)⚽ games in the window — an over-3.5 swing with real ceiling. Risk: RSL lost three of their last five and Minnesota's defence is mildly suppressing (5.3% fewer shots than average) — no big edge either way; mixed signals.

San Jose Earthquakes vs St. Louis CITY (22:30 ET)

Kickoff 22:30 ET at PayPal Park. The tip: Becher over 2.5 shots @ 1.80 (St. Louis). Evidence: St. Louis are unbeaten in five (W W W W D) against a San Jose side winless in five; Becher (2.21/game, 79') is the entry — his price has moved from 1.40 to 1.80 since publish (15 Aug). The frame matters: St. Louis allow 15.2% fewer shots than average — the slate's second-strongest suppression — which prices San Jose's Judd (2.94/game) at over 3.5 @ 1.73, a line raised from 2.5 on 15 Aug, with no room left. Risk: only one bookmaker posted this game (thin odds) and St. Louis face rotation after the Leagues Cup.

Sunday's games — Chicago tip added; NYCFC form only

Chicago Fire vs Portland Timbers (Sun 16, 18:00 ET, Soldier Field): the tip is Lewandowski over 4.5 shots @ 1.80 (Chicago). Evidence: Lewandowski averages 4.08 shots per game — only the 4.5 tier is posted, and at 1.80 the market is not over-pricing the top line; Chicago arrive with four wins in their last five. Risk: 4.5 is a high bar — a 4.08 average clears it less often than the average implies, and only a handful of books are posting this game, so check depth before staking.

NYCFC vs Philadelphia Union (Sun 16, 18:00 ET, Yankee Stadium) remains form only — no data pack exists for that game yet, so no prices and no claims. Coverage will follow if a pack lands; check back before Sunday kickoff.
